The Anti-Corruption Commission says the Zambia bribe payers index survey report findings have shown that the overall bribery index has reduced by 0.8 percent from 10.9 percent in 2019 and 10.1 per cent in 2022.
Speaking during the dissemination of the 2022 Zambia bribe payers index report in Ndola today ACC Copperbelt Regional Manager Roy Kakoma says despite the observed reduction, the findings in the report generally show that bribery is still a big challenge in both public and private institutions.
Mr. Kakoma says in about 67% of bribery cases, if an individual failed or refused to pay the bribe solicited, the service sought was either delayed or denied.
Institutions cited as the most engaged for bribes include Local Authorities, Ministry of Education, and Ministry of Health, Road Development Agency, Zambia Medicines and Medical Supplies Agency and ZESCO.
