As Zambia joined the rest of the World in commemorating International Labour Day, President Hakainde Hichilema has urged the labour movements to support his cause of cutting down on unnecessary expenditure in public institutions.

The President says wastage of public resources is a hindrance to economic growth and hinders job creation.

President Hichilema says his government will therefore not allow Ministers, Permanent Secretaries and other civil servants to continue using luxurious vehicles.

He also says to set an example on this, he will never use the Gulfstream Presidential Jet because of the cost associated with it.

Meanwhile, the labour movements among them, Zambia Congress of Trade Unions, want government to address the high cost of living in the country.
