The International Monetary Fund and the Zambian Government will soon commence discussions on the first review of the Extended Credit Facility arrangement and Article IV Consultations.

According to a statement released by the Secretary to the Treasury, the first review and Article IV Consultation, will see the IMF collect economic and financial information, and discuss Zambia’s economic developments and policies.

The Fund will assess the performance in areas such as restoration of fiscal and debt sustainability, improving debt management and transparency, strengthening governance and financial sector stability, among others.

The Allison Holland led IMF delegation is expected to be in the country from 22 March to 5 April, 2023 for the undertaking.

IMF Program for Zambia was approved in August 2022 with the aim of support towards the government’s reform plan to restore debt sustainability, create fiscal space for social spending and inclusive economic growth.
