Lusaka District Commissioner-DC, Rosa Zulu, has sounded the alarm on the continued siphoning of fuel from fuel tankers around the TAZAMA fuel storage depot on Buyantashi road, in the city’s heavy industrial area.
Mrs. Zulu who witnessed the crime is shocked that people are still complacent and have continued to engage in the criminality where a tanker recently exploded leading to the death of one person days later.
In 2021, Metro Industrial yard in the heavy industrial area caught fire and burnt tanker trucks, after some people were allegedly trying to siphon fuel.
