President Hakainde Hichilema says high levels of corruption in the health sector are adding to headaches for government.

Speaking when he graced the first ever Zambia European Union Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Forum, President Hichilema says the supply of medicines is surrounded by gross corruption.

The President says those involved in corruption will be fired and should not lie to their spouses that the President hates them.

And European Union Ambassador to Zambia Jacek Jankowski has pledged support towards Zambia’s journey for local manufacturing of drugs as it will guarantee good health for the people, as well as availability, accessibility and affordability.

The Forum has been held under the theme, ‘Strengthening Healthcare through Local Pharmaceutical Manufacturing.
