Cholera has broken out in Mwansabombwe District, Luapula Province, with seven cases confirmed so far.

This is the second District to record the outbreak of cholera following Vubwi which has cumulatively recorded 42 cases and 1 death.

Minister of Health, Sylvia Masebo, has disclosed this at a press briefing held in Lusaka.

Ms. Masebo says response preparations started before the outbreak, due to the risk posed by ongoing outbreaks in some neighboring countries.

She has since indicated that a rapid response team has been dispatched to Mwansabombwe District to help prevent further spread and carry out sensitization programs.
