Government through the Ministry of Youth, Sport and Arts has launched the national sports awards for the year 2022 to be held on 3rd March, 2023.
Speaking during the launch, Minister of Sports Elvis Nkandu says the awards are meant to appreciate sports personalities, associations administrators and sports journalists for various milestones recorded in 2022.
Nkandu adds that the awards are in a bid to motivate the sports fraternity to work hard and continue minting medals as seen last year where Zambia minted 310 medals in various sports codes.
And National Sports Council of Zambia Chairperson Patrick Mutimushi has thanked the ministry for relaunching the awards adding that the unprecedented support shown to the growth and development of sport has yielded great results.
Meanwhile, 15 categories have been shortlisted and some include Sports Federation of the year, the President’s award and Sports Man and Woman of the year.
