Zambia has lost three people, all males aged 19, 62 and 96 years, to Covid-19 in the last 24hours.

Minister of Health Sylvia Masebo says two of the deceased had high Blood Pressure and were both vaccinated but had developed severe COVID pneumonia while the other case was a COVID associated death.

Ms. Masebo has appealed to the public to adhere to COVID-19 measures as government continues to assess the spike in recent cases.

And Infectious Diseases Director Professor LIoyd Mulenga says mass testing will not be done, but only those who are sick will be tested.

The current prevailing COVID 19 cases are reportedly driven by a sub-variant of the Omicron virus which is called XBB.
