The Lusaka Magistrate Court has discharged over 50 suspects who were arrested and detained for idling and behaving in a manner likely to cause a breach of peace in various parts of Lusaka.

The accused persons, who were arrested a month ago have been freed because they have already served the jail term from the time they have been in custody.

More suspects are expected to appear in court Thursday in connection with the same offence.

Last month, over 100 Lusaka residents were dragged to court for allegedly idling and behaving in a manner likely to cause a breach of peace in streets of Lusaka city.

The accused, who separately charged in four groups, are appearing before different courts facing the offence idle and disorderly persons.

The offence is committed by every person wandering about, or placing himself in any public place, street, highway, court, or passage, to beg or gather alms.
