FIFA Referee Diana Chikotesha who has been selected as assistant referee for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup says this is a dream come true, which she has waited for the past 14 years.
Speaking to Diamond Sports, Chikotesha says she is humbled that she has been selected to officiate at the world showpiece.
Meanwhile, Football Association of Zambia Communications Manager Sydney Mungala says Chikotesha’s appointment at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup is a good response to Janny Sikazwe’s retirement.
Her selection among 55 assistant referees for the Women’s World Cup comes barely three weeks after renowned FIFA Referee Janny Sikazwe announced his retirement from referring.
Chikotesha is currently in Algeria with Atezambong Fomo Carine of Cameroon, the only women assistant referees for the TotalEnergies African Nations Championship (CHAN) Algeria 2022, which is set to run from 13th January to 4th February 2023.
