The Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit has failed to explain before the Public Accounts Committee, how it accrued over K620 Million, owed to various suppliers of goods and services for Covid-19.

This was revealed in the Auditor General’s report for the financial year ended 31st December 2021.

Public Accounts Committee Member, Jonathan Daka, doubted the authenticity of the debt.

In his response DMMU National Coordinator, Dr. Gabriel Pollen, says a huge part of the debt can be attributed to Covid-19 related issues.
