Pupils at Kanama Primary School have abandoned lessons to assist their parents in fishing camps.

Kanama Primary School Head Teacher Danny Masheto has expressed worry that so far a high number of learners are absconding classes hence it may affect their performance.

Mr. Masheto has appealed to families to desist engaging their children in fishing activities at the expense of education because the nation is still trying to advance lessons after the setbacks brought about by Covid-19 when schools were repeatedly shutdown to contain the virus.

Kanama Primary School which runs from grade one to seven has a total number of 512 pupils and of that number about 40 are reported to have joined their parents whose economic survival is dependent on fishing.
