The continuous breaking down of machines at the Cancer Diseases Hospital in Lusaka coupled by shortage of some vital medicine has led to the reoccurrence of cancer in some patients.
One of the patients admitted to the facility who does not want to be named says she is at the verge of losing another breast because she could not undergo her radiotherapy sessions due to the breaking down of machinery.
The unhappy patient says amid her struggle to access healthcare she has been made to buy items such as a Catheter at One Thousand Two Hundred Kwacha because the facility has limited health kits hence the problem has affected her finances.
Management at the hospital is yet to state when the situation will improve as sources within the institution claim undisclosed sums of money have been released to facilitate procurement of at least some brand new equipment and drugs for cancer treatment.
