A 43-year-old woman has been rescued after falling into a well in the Chamboli SOS area of Kitwe.
The woman, identified as Chalwe Fellisters, fell into the well at approximately 06:01 hours this morning, following which the Kitwe City Council Fire Brigade received a distress call.
Kitwe City Council Public Relations Officer Emmanuel Lupikisha says upon arrival, the rescue team found her still breathing inside the well and successfully rescued her using two rescue lines.
Mr. Lupikisha says she was immediately taken to Chamboli Level One Hospital for medical attention and was alive at the time of handover to hospital staff.
Meanwhile, Kitwe City Council has commended its Fire Brigade team for the swift response and urged members of the public to exercise caution around wells and other potentially hazardous areas.
