Government has fined a Chinese owned hotel thirty thousand Kwacha fine (K30, 000) fine on a Chinese owned hotel in Livingstone for willful failure to comply with Labour Laws.

Labour officials swung into action on Golden Chopsticks over allegations of operating for two years with only five workers that manage the forty bed-capacity hotel.

Labour Commissioner Given Muntengwa who paid an impromptu visit established that of the five staff, only two are in housekeeping, one Chief, Receptionist and a Gardener.

Mr. Muntengwa who wanted to know the conditions of service established that none of the employees possessed a signed contract of employment that goes above a year and mode payment of salaries is from within the hotel not the bank.

In response to the allegation Hotel Manager Kelvin Mwelwa claims the company is still struggling from effects of Covid-19 that had crippled its operations.
