The Civil Service Commission has extended the verification exercise for applicants seeking to be recruited into the health sector, giving thousands of applicants an additional four weeks to confirm their application details.
The verification deadline, which was initially set for September 11, 2026, has now been moved to October 9, 2026.
Speaking at a press briefing the Chairperson of the Civil Service Commission Dr Choolwe Beyani says the extension follows concerns raised by applicants over limited time and the long distances some have to travel to reach provincial and district health offices.
Dr Beyani says the verification exercise is a quality-assurance measure aimed at ensuring that applicants’ personal details, academic and professional qualifications, as well as professional registration information, where applicable, are accurately captured.
Medical doctors and pharmacists will verify their details at provincial health offices, while applicants in other health worker categories will do so at district health offices.
He has clarified that verification is not mandatory. Applicants who are satisfied that the information submitted in their applications is accurate and complete, and who have received a text message from ZAMPOST confirming that their applications have been dispatched to their preferred districts, may opt not to verify.
The Commission says choosing not to verify will not, in itself, disadvantage an applicant in the recruitment process.
The nationwide recruitment follows an advertisement for 2,600 health workers across various professional cadres.
Meanwhile, the Commission says it is yet to announce the total number of applications received.
It has also disclosed that validation of documents for volunteers targeted for recruitment into the Civil Service is currently underway countrywide.
