Former Zambia national team player Evans Kangwa is set to officially retire on June 6, 2026, at Reiz Arena, a moment that promises to be an emotional farewell, bringing the curtain down on a decorated football career that took him from the streets of Chilenje to Europe and beyond.
Speaking ahead of Saturday, Kangwa says his football journey has been nothing short of exciting starting out at Chilenje Happy Heart FC before moving through Woodlands B Fc and then Nkana FC, where he earned an opportunity to be part of the celebrated Chipolopolo 2012 AFCON winning Squad.
The AFCON victory opened the doors to an illustrious career abroad, taking him through Gaziantepspor in Turkey, Arsenal Tula in Russia, Qingdao Hainiu in China and Abha Club in Saudi Arabia, spending close to 13 years across the world’s most competitive football environments.
The June 6 send-off takes place at Reiz Arena, where Kangwa will bow out in fitting fashion with a football match surrounded by former teammates and fans.
Meanwhile, Kangwa’s wife, Vivian, has described the event as an emotional moment to witness her husband retire from the only job he has known his entire life, describing the occasion as deeply personal for the entire family.
