The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has revised the nomination dates for parliamentary and local government candidates ahead of the 2026 General Elections.
ECZ Chairperson Mwangala Zaloumis said the changes are aimed at giving political parties more time to put their houses in order.
Ms. Zaloumis said aspiring Members of Parliament, who were initially expected to file nominations on May 18, 2026, will now file on May 20, 2026.
She added that aspiring local government candidates will file their nominations on May 21, 2026, while councillors have been allocated two nomination dates — May 21 and 22, 2026.
For presidential candidates, the nomination period remains unchanged and will run from May 18 to 22, 2026.
Zambians will go to the polls on August 13, 2026.
