SENIOR CHIEF MWEWA OF ABENA NGUMBO DIES

Senior Chief Mwewa of the Abena Ngumbo in Chifunabuli District of Luapula Province has died after an illness, marking the end of a 17-year reign.

The late traditional leader, who ascended to the throne in 2009, played a key role in promoting unity, cultural preservation, and local development in the area.

Confirming the development to the media, Luapula Province Permanent Secretary Prudence Chinama announced the demise, adding that details regarding burial arrangements will be communicated in due course.

Mrs Chinama described the loss as devastating, noting that the province has been robbed of a dedicated and respected leader.

Meanwhile, in an interview with Diamond TV, Luapula Chiefs Council Chairperson Chief Chisunka has called for peace and harmony among members of the royal family to ensure a befitting send-off for the Senior Chief.

Chief Chisunka described the late Chief as a visionary leader who consistently worked for the wellbeing of his people and the development of the region.
