UPND OFFICIALS IN LIVINGSTONE PROTEST SIMATOBOLO WARD INTRA-PARTY ELECTIONS

.

Some members of the ruling United Party for National Development (UPND) in Livingstone District, Southern Province, have raised concerns over the ongoing intra-party elections in Simatobolo Ward, citing alleged electoral malpractice.

The officials claim the elections lack public consensus and have accused electoral officers of manipulating the process.

The aggrieved members further allege that the elections were conducted secretly at a private residence rather than through a transparent and publicly accessible voting process.

However, Returning Officer Gerald Kuyewana has dismissed the allegations, describing the complainants as individuals who are not legitimate party members.

Kuyewana stated that the intra-party elections are being conducted in accordance with party bylaws and maintained that electoral procedures are being followed correctly.

.

He further emphasized that the elections across the district are free and fair, contrary to the claims being made.
