MAKEBI TAKEN TO COURT OVER PF CONVENTION

PF faction secretary General Morgan Ng’ona has commenced contempt proceedings against Makebi Zulu and twelve others over the party convention that elected Mr. Zulu as president.

In November 2025, The Kabwe High court had ordered an injunction, restraining the Patriotic Front PF, then led by Given Lubinda from proceeding to hold its planned convention pending determination of party leadership wrangles in court.

In an affidavit in support of the ex-parte summons for leave to join parties to the contempt proceedings, Mr. Ngona allege that the party however went ahead to hold a convention on march 21st 2026 which elected Makebi Zulu as party president.

He has asked the court to join, Brenda Nyirenda in her capacity as acting secretary General.

Others are given Lubinda, Abraham Mwansa, Celestine Mkandila, Jean Kapata, and Frank Ngambi, Chanda Kabwe, Richard Musukwa, Godfridah Sumaili, Silvian Chalikosa, Mumbi Phiri and Lawrence Sichalwe.

Mr. Ng’ona has argued that the holding of the election was in disorbedience of the order of the interim injunction ordered by the court.
