A 44-year-old woman of Lusaka has been arrested for allegedly murdering her husband in a suspected domestic violence incident.
Zambia Police Public Relations Officer Godfrey Chilabi has confirmed the development, identifying the suspect as Miriam Mwila.
Mr. Chilabi says Mwila is currently detained at Emmasdale Police Station in connection with the death of her 49-year-old husband, Zebron Phiri.
He explains that the matter was initially reported as an assault at Kabangwe Police Post on March 15, 2026, but was later upgraded to murder after the victim was found dead in a makeshift structure with injuries consistent with the earlier report.
Mr. Chilabi adds that the body of the deceased has been deposited at the University Teaching Hospital mortuary, while investigations into the matter continue.
