The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has formally accepted the resignation of Mrs. Gladys Lengwe Mweemba as Chairperson of the FAZ Referees Committee, while cautioning her over corruption allegations she raised outside official channels.
In a letter dated 12th March 2026, FAZ acknowledged receipt of Mweemba’s resignation and thanked her for her service and contribution to the administration and development of refereeing in Zambian football.
However, the association has expressed concern over allegations of rampant corruption among referees that Mweemba cited in her resignation correspondence, noting that such claims, if unsubstantiated through proper channels, risk bringing the game into disrepute and constitute a serious offence under the disciplinary codes of FIFA, CAF and FAZ.
The association has further warned that raising such allegations in the public domain without following due procedure may expose her to proceedings before FAZ judicial bodies as provided for under the FAZ statutes and disciplinary framework.
FAZ has since reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the integrity of football and urged all stakeholders to report credible concerns through the appropriate channels.
