The Zambian Premier League has strongly condemned acts of hooliganism that broke out at Nkoloma Stadium, following Thursday’s goalless draw between Red Arrows and Power Dynamos, vowing firm disciplinary action against those found responsible.
In a strongly-worded statement, the ZPL has described the violence as deeply regrettable and says it has launched a full investigation in collaboration with relevant authorities and match officials.
ZPL Chief Executive Officer Joseph Chimpampwe has described the incident as extremely disappointing and unacceptable, reaffirming the League’s commitment to maintaining safe matchday environments for players, officials and supporters, further urging fans to support their teams passionately but responsibly.
The League stressed that violence and misconduct before, during, or after a match stand in direct contradiction to the values of respect, integrity, and fair play it upholds.
Chimpampwe adds that sanctions will be imposed in accordance with League Rules and Regulations upon conclusion of the investigation.
