The Zambia Senior Women’s National Team have started their title defense in style at the ongoing COSAFA Women’s Senior Championship in South Africa, beating Botswana 3-0 in their opening game to go top of group B.
Regina Chanda opened the scoring in the 14th minute before Susan Banda doubled the lead just before the break, netting in the 44th minute to give Zambia a comfortable halftime advantage.
Kabange Mupopo then wrapped up the win in the 70th minute, finishing well to seal a convincing 3-0 victory for the reigning champions.
The Copper Queens now shift their focus to their next group game against Zimbabwe on February 22.
Zimbabwe defeated Eswatini 2-0 in their opener.
