DALITSO LUNGU TO APPEAL PROPERTY FORFEITURE, DENIES COMMITING A CRIME

.

Lawyer for former President Edgar Lungu’s son, Dalitso Lungu, Charles Changano, has argued that his client did not commit any offence by being in possession of properties that have since been forfeited to the State.

In an exclusive interview with Diamond News, Mr. Changano said the properties in question were gifted to Dalitso Lungu by his father, Edgar Lungu.

Mr. Changano questioned why the former President was never interviewed by law enforcement agencies that were investigating the matter, particularly to establish how he acquired the properties before gifting them to his son.

He further told Diamond News that Dalitso Lungu will appeal the judgment of the Economic and Financial Crimes Court, which ordered the forfeiture of his properties, including over 70 motor vehicles and several pieces of land valued at more than K24 million.

Meanwhile, the National Prosecutions Authority (NPA) has disclosed that it will provide an update on the intended use of the seized properties.
