CABINET APPROVES SEVEN BILLS TO STRENGTHEN DISASTER MANAGEMENT, INVESTMENT AND HERITAGE PROTECTION

Cabinet has approved a total of seven Bills aimed at strengthening disaster preparedness, improving service delivery, boosting investment and safeguarding Zambia’s natural and cultural heritage.

Minister of Information and Media Cornelius Mweetwa says of these, four Bills have been cleared for publication and introduction in Parliament, while three have been approved in principle, following deliberations at the first Cabinet Meeting of 2026 chaired by President Hakainde Hichilema on February 2 at State House.

Bills approved for publication and introduction in Parliament include Disaster Management (Amendment) Bill, 2026 Water Supply and Sanitation Services Bill, 2026,Investment, Trade and Business Development (Development of Premises and Operation of Business) Regulations Bill, 2026 and the Tolls (Tom Mtine Toll Plaza) Regulations Bill, 2026.

Those approved in principle are the National Heritage Conservation Commission (Amendment) Bill, 2026,the National Museums (Repeal) Bill, 2026 and the Heritage Regulations Bill, 2026.

He says these Bills focus on disaster risk management, water and sanitation reform, investment and industrial development, transport infrastructure, and the preservation and regulation of Zambia’s natural and cultural heritage.
