TONSE ALLIANCE SUSPENDS PF FROM THE MOVEMENT

.

The Tonse Alliance has resolved to remove the Patriotic Front (PF) faction lead by Acting President Given Lubinda from the alliance citing prolonged internal disputes, leadership wrangles and ongoing court battles within the former ruling party.

Christian Democratic Party Leader Professor Danny Pule says the decision was reached during a virtual meeting of the Alliance’s Council of Leaders held on Tuesday evening.

Prof. Pule has noted that PF’s leadership crisis and internal chaos has stalled the Alliance’s progress and affected its institutional credibility.

He says the move to suspend the PF is meant to honour the wishes and political legacy of former President Edgar Lungu, adding that PF Members of Parliament who opposed and voted against Bill 7 demonstrated alignment with the ECL PF Political Movement.

Prof. Pule explains that the PF Movement is a non-registered political pressure group made up of PF members and structures loyal to former President Lungu outside the current party leadership.

Meanwhile, the Council resolved to convene the Tonse Alliance General Congress in January 2026 to elect a new Chairperson, a 2026 presidential candidate and other key leaders. All Council members will be eligible to contest.
