The latest Auditor General’s report on the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) for the financial year ended December 31, 2024, has revealed that 146 constituencies failed to repay loans amounting to over K311 million.
According to the report, during the period under review, loans totalling K657 million were disbursed to 8,783 beneficiaries across the 146 constituencies.
However, contrary to the guidelines, as of October 31, 2025, local authorities had only collected K64 million in loan repayments out of the expected K375 million, leaving K311 million outstanding for periods ranging from one (1) to forty-eight (48) months.
Furthermore, the report reveals that as of October 31, 2025, local authorities had not terminated the loan agreements despite the prolonged non-repayment.
