Three political parties namely Leadership Movement (LM), the United Progressive and Peaceful Party of Zambia (UPPZ), and the ruling United Party for National Development (UPND) have successfully filed nominations for the Liangati Ward by-election in Senanga District of Western Province.
LM was first to file, endorsing Idah Lubasi Mwangala as its candidate. UPPZ followed with Lutangu Ziyezi, while UPND concluded the process with the nomination of Mwiya Mukumbuta.
All participants have pledged inclusive representation if elected.
The by-election has been necessitated by the death of former UPND councillor Nyambe Nyambe, who died in a road accident in October this year.
The Electoral Commission of Zambia ECZ has set December 31st for voting.
