Acting Patriotic Front (PF) President Given Lubinda has allegedly been assaulted by suspected cadres while addressing party officials in Kabwe.
Aspiring PF President Brian Mundubile has confirmed the incident, saying Mr. Lubinda was abducted and brutally assaulted by suspected United Party for National Development (UPND) cadres who stormed his meeting.
He says Mr. Lubinda was forced into a pickup truck that sped off, and his whereabouts remain unknown.
Mr. Mundubile has since appealed to the Inspector General of Police to deploy officers to Kabwe to provide security for PF members.
Meanwhile, the Zambia Police Service is yet to confirm the incident.
In a video circulating on social media, Mr. Lubinda is seeing being dragged by unknown cadres out of a building.
