After a moving Diamond TV story aired on October 11, 2025, detailing the heartbreaking struggles of 35-year-old Veronica Phiri and her 11-year-old son, Wisdom Zulu who has lived with a disability since infancy. First Lady Mutinta Hichilema has once again demonstrated her compassion and commitment to uplifting vulnerable families.
Deeply touched by their story, the First Lady has reached out with a life changing donation that includes a wheelchair to ease Wisdom’s mobility challenges, food supplies such as 10 bags of mealie meal, 4 bags of rice,2 bales of sugar, and 2 boxes of cooking oil, as well as bedding items and a mattress to improve their living conditions.
In a gesture aimed at empowering Veronica to become self-reliant, she has also received a sewing machine.
