
A driver has been found in a critical condition in Monze after being allegedly attacked and robbed of a vehicle carrying Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) materials along the Lusaka–Livingstone route.
Prislay Mutelo Malambo, 40, of Monze, was discovered unconscious in Chicheleko Compound and rushed to Monze Mission Hospital, where he remains admitted and unable to speak.
The silver Mitsubishi Pajero, registration ACL 3633, and the ECZ materials it was transporting are still missing.
Police say the vehicle had been entrusted to Mr. Malambo by Mr. Shydrink Mushingwa, 48, of Kasama District, who had been contracted by the ECZ on October 10, 2025, to transport election materials to Livingstone.
According to police details, On October 11, Mr. Malambo departed Lusaka after clearance from ECZ officials but reported a mechanical breakdown in Mazabuka, where he spent the night. The following day, he reportedly experienced another breakdown, after which all communication with him was lost, until he was discovered in a critical condition.
Police launched a full investigation.
