A 24-year-old woman has allegedly been gang raped by five men after being forcibly taken from her home in the Mnoro area of Chipata District.
The attack is reported to have occurred on the night of October 1, 2025, while the victim was sleeping.
Eastern Province Police Commanding Officer Robertson Mweemba has told Diamond News that the victim was in her house with the door open when the five men entered.
Before she could react, the assailants covered her mouth and physically removed her from the dwelling.
She was then taken to a nearby bush where all five men took turns raping her.
Following the assault, the perpetrators stole the victim’s underwear and K500 in cash before returning her to her home.
The victim reported the crime to the Victim Support Unit on October 7, citing painful injuries.
Authorities have identified two of the alleged assailants as Blessings Shawa and Jeremiah Phiri.
The identities of the three other men involved remain unknown.
A manhunt has been launched to locate and arrest the five suspects, though no one has yet been taken into custody.
