HH CALLS FOR FIRST- GRADE DIGITAL TECHNOLOGY FOR AFRICA

.

President Hakainde Hichilema says Africa does not need third-grade digital technology but must instead embrace first-grade innovation that allows the continent to benefit from ongoing research and development in the digital space.

Speaking when he officially opened the Digital Africa Conference in Lusaka on Tuesday, President Hichilema says Africa continues to bear the high cost of goods and services due to the wrong perception of risks associated with doing business on the continent.

The Head of State has noted that digital technology has the potential to expose the unnecessary burdens placed on African economies and called for efforts to de-risk the continent. He emphasized that some of the perceived risks do not even exist, citing Zambia as an example of a country without foreign exchange controls.
