The Lusaka Magistrates’ Court has sentenced two witch-doctors to two years in prison for practicing witchcraft with the intent to harm President Hakainde Hichilema.
This is contrary to the Witchcraft Act, Chapter 90 of the Laws of Zambia.
The convicts, Jasten Mabulesse Candunde, 42, of Maravia in Mozambique, and Leonard Phiri, 43, of Kafewa Village in Chief Nyanje’s area of Sinda District, Eastern Province, have also been given six months for possession of charms.
The sentences will run concurrently from the date of their arrest in December 2024.
