Republican Vice President Mutale Nalumango has emphasized that the government’s proposal for constitutional amendments under Bill 7 is devoid of any hidden agendas.
Speaking at the 10th National Planning Conference in Livingstone on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, Vice President Nalumango has clarified that the content of Bill 7 reflects the genuine aspirations of the public.
She says the provisions outlined in the bill are not entirely new in the country’s constitutional reform history; rather, they have been refined to better serve the public interest.
Earlier, President of the Zambia Institute of Planners Busiku Sulwe expressed support for the amendment process, particularly the proposed increase in constituencies as a means to enhance development initiatives.
Recently, the Zambian government deferred deliberations surrounding the Constitutional Amendment Bill 7 to facilitate broader public engagement.
