
Nine-Year-Old twin girls have died after drowning in a soakaway in Kabwe, Central Province.
Police say the incident happened on the evening of 31st December 2025 at Mpima Extension, where the children are believed to have attempted to swim in the soakaway.
Central Province Police Commanding Officer Yobe Luhana confirmed the deaths, describing them as a case of sudden and unnatural death.
The victims have been identified as Dorothy Chileshe and Rosemary Chileshe, both aged nine.
Mr. Luhana say a report was received shortly after 8 p.m., and officers rushed to the scene, but the children were found to have already died.
Their bodies have since been taken to Kabwe Central Hospital mortuary, where post-mortem examinations are expected to be conducted.
Police have since opened investigations as they appeal to parents and guardians to closely monitor children, especially around hazardous areas.
