A 6 year old girl was discovered dead in Lusaka’s Zani Muone West area, in a suspected murder case.
Police say the incident is believed to have occurred between February 6, 2026, around 14:00 hours and February 7 around 07:00 hours
According to Police Public Relations Officer Godfrey Chilabi says the child, identified as Naomi Kapobela, was left in the care of her two elder sisters, aged 17 and 19, while both parents were at work.
When the parents returned home later in the day, they were informed that she had been playing within the neighbourhood.
When the child did not return home, family members and neighbours began searching for her until the early hours of the morning. After failing to locate her, the matter was reported to Kabangwe Police Post as a missing person case.
Police say that on the morning of February 7, members of the public discovered a body near the family’s residence, which was later identified as that of the missing child.
The body has been taken to the University Teaching Hospital mortuary where a post-mortem examination will be conducted.
