Police recorded 23 deaths out of 197 road traffic accidents recorded during this year’s Christmas holiday.
During the same time, 32 people sustained serious injuries, with Lusaka Province recording the highest number of accidents at 71, followed by Copperbelt Province with 33.
In comparison with the previous Christmas holiday (2021) where a 152 road traffic accidents were recorded, this year’s Christmas holiday shows an increase by 45 accidents.
Deputy Police Public Relations Officer, Danny Mwale has told diamond news that the figures show an increase in both serious injury road traffic accidents and persons seriously injured as compared to the 2021 records.
