TONSE ALLIANCE DEMANDS IMMEDIATE HALT TO ALLEGED SECRET POLICE RECRUITMENT

.

The Tonse Alliance has called for the immediate suspension of the ongoing recruitment and training of over 3,000 police officers, describing the process as secretive, non-transparent, and deeply concerning.

Alliance President Brian Mundubile says such a large-scale recruitment exercise should have been publicly advertised, especially after earlier reports were denied by police, only for training to reportedly begin months later.

Mr. Mundubile notes that the timing of the recruitment just ahead of the 2026 general elections raises serious questions about the motives and instructions being given to recruits.

He has further cited recent incidents at the Anti-Corruption Commission where some officers allegedly acted unprofessionally, warning that a lack of transparency in recruitment could worsen concerns about discipline and accountability within the police service.

The Alliance has also questioned the fairness of the process, pointing out that many qualified youths, including vulnerable groups such as orphans, remain without opportunities.

.

He has urged the government to ensure equal access to public service jobs through platforms like Imisepela, while calling on President Hakainde Hichilema and the Inspector General of Police to immediately halt the exercise and provide clarity to the public.
