2017 U20 Africa Cup of Nations winning midfielder, Emmanuel Banda, has urged the current crop of U20 players to use the 2023 TotalEnergies as a platform to kick-start their professional playing careers.

Banda, who plays for Croatian top division side HNK Rijeka, wants the team to not only replicate the success of six years ago but also make the country proud.

And U20 national team Coach, Chisi Mbewe, has named his final 21-member squad for the 2023 TotalEnergies U20 AFCON tournament.

Mbewe and his technical bench have left out Joseph ‘Sabobo’ Banda due to a knee injury that kept him away from training for most of the team’s camp in Ismailia.

Others that have failed to make the cut include Lackson Tembo, Moses Mulenga and Henry Mbuti.

The team has since left Ismailia for Alexandria to set up base for their group C matches.
