The Zambia Compulsory Standards Agency (ZCSA) has withdrawn 10 bales of used underwear and night gowns from the market (Salaula) worth K25,000 in the first quarter of 2023.

ZCSA Head of Communication, Brian Hatyoka says the move is in accordance with the Compulsory Standards Act Number 3 of 2017.

Mr. Hatyoka adds the agency will consider various options available, including prosecution offenders involved in the importation of the banned textile products.

Government has repeatedly cautioned dealers of secondhand clothes to desist importing undergarments, because they are a danger on public health.
